1960 saw some calming in the development of the Corvette, with very little adaptation from the previous year. On the technical side a new rear suspension sway bar was added to improve the car's handling, and initially aluminium heads and radiator were brought in, but then later withdrawn.

A standard '60 'Vette was equipped with tachometer, electric clock, outside rear-view mirror, sun visors, dual exhaust and carpeting to the interior, while a whole host of optional extras continued to be offered ranging from power top to 'permanent anti-freeze' and a variety of performance combinations from 3 speeds to 4 and 245bhp to 315bhp V8s. Chevrolet offered the Corvette in eight color finishes: Tuxedo Black, Ermine White, Tasco Turquoise, Horizon Blue, Sateen Silver, Cascade Green, Roman Red, Honduras Maroon, for an additional $16.15 cents, the fender coves could be painted silver or white, tops being limited to simply black, white and blue.

If Corvettes appealed to the collector of this group of cars, none was more so than the 1960 variant, of which 3 were collated, one wonders if perhaps the intention had been for a representation of one of each color in the range?

From a cursory inspection we can confirm that this Silver example is fitted with a black top and has the options of a radio, heater, defroster and air-conditioning and whitewall tires. Its 'DG' suffix to the engine would normally denote standard engine size and automatic transmission, however today this car is fitted with a manual four speed 'box.

Condition in general is very good and it is clear that the car has benefited from a thorough restoration at some time prior to acquisition for the present collection ownership. Its mechanical order after long term museum storage is difficult to quantify and while we anticipate that the Corvette will be running at the time of sale, the sensible precaution of a thorough re-commissioning prior to proper use is advised.
