1960 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE
Chassis No. 00867S 103675
Engine No. T0919 D
Red with red interior and black top
Engine: V-8, 283ci, 230bhp at 4,800rpm; Gearbox: four speed manual automatic; Suspension: front, independent, rear, semi-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: four-wheel drum. Left hand drive.
This tidily presented 1960 Corvette is offered in the period Roman Red livery with matched red interior and a black top. When new the car would have cost $3,872 as standard, but there were always many options available to tailor a car to the owner's own specification and this carries a number of those including whitewall tires, radio, heater, air-conditioning and defroster.
Decoding the engine number shows this to have originally been a standard specification unit fitted with an automatic transmission, this has however been changed to four speed manual at some stage in the car's life.
A nicely restored example, as with most of these cars it will have resided in the present European collection since the main gathering period in the late 1980s/early 1990s and has been Museum stored throughout this time. As a result of this, while we do hope to have had the car running by the time of the sale, the sensible precaution of a thorough re-commissioning prior to road use is strongly advised.
