A NORTH ITALIAN BARBUTA
Possibly late 15th Century
With tall skull formed of one piece with low medial ridge over the crown, pierced for fitting a crest, the face opening cut almost straight across the brow, straight down one side, the other edge slightly curved, flared outward around the base to form a narrow down-curved brim, and pierced with rows of circular holes for lining rivets and a chin strap (the brow with internal spot-welded small repairs).
