AN ITALIAN ETCHED MORION OF 'SPANISH' TYPE, IN LATE 16TH CENTURY STYLE
19th Century
Formed in one piece, with tall skull formed with an acute medial ridge rising to a stalk, narrow down-turned brim, turned roped edge, decorated with etched bands of trophies and grotesques in the so-called 'Pisan' style, and studded with later brass rivets (heavily cleaned, the skull cracked and holed at the base on one side, plume-holder missing).
