A NORTH ITALIAN ETCHED CIRCULAR SHIELD, IN THE STYLE OF CIRCA 1560
19th Century
Convex with a flat rim and turned edge, decorated with cabling interrupted by baluster mouldings, etched with bands of interlaced foliage radiating from a stylised calyx in the centre, all on a contrasting blackened hatched ground, fitted with small pinecone finial studded with lining rivets with iron rosette heads (the enarms and lining missing).
