A PAIR OF COMPOSITE SOUTH GERMAN MITTEN GAUNTLETS
Late 16th Century
Each with slightly flared tubular cuff fitted with six narrow metacarpal plates, one embossed with a very small nodule over the ulna, a forward metacarpal plate carrying a strongly embossed plate over the knuckles, four fluted articulations over the fingers, hinged embossed thumb defence, iron rivets, and turned roped edge.
