A COMPOSITE GERMAN CLOSED BURGONET
The skull 17th Century, the remainder 19th Century
With rounded skull of one-piece construction drawn out to a short flange at the rear and a pointed narrow up-turned peak at the front, the neck flange and the peak each pierced with pairs of lace holes for a lining, fitted with a pair of hinged deep cheek-pieces joined at the middle (perhaps later), two matching articulated neck lames front and rear, the cheek-pieces and lower neck lames each with turned roped edges, each closed by a turning-pin, and studded with domed iron lining rivets.
