AN ITALIAN HALBERD, IN 16TH CENTURY STYLE
19th Century
With one-piece cutting blade and trident fluke retained by a transverse bolt with pyramidal heads (one replaced), the cutting blade with convex leading edge, cusped back edges, and struck with a mark on one face, separate central spike of rectangular section extending at the bottom to form a pair of iron straps, and on an octagonal haft with an additional pair of side straps completing a rectangular socket.
