The first, the head circa 1580; the second, the head circa 1600
The first with small angular cutting blade and flat rear fluke each pierced with circular holes, central spike and open socket extending to a pair of straps (pitted): on a modern haft; the second with slender blade with strongly concave leading edge, pierced with groups of circular holes, flat rear fluke incorporating an up-turned prong and struck with a mark on one face, long central spike, open socket extending to a pair of straps, and on a modern haft with additional short straps.
