A MACE, IN LATE 15TH CENTURY 'GOTHIC' STYLE
19th Century
The head formed of six triangular flanges cut with projecting crockets, thickening towards the points, each pierced with a trefoil and the edges overlaid with small brass panels, crenellated top bound by a brass band, and removable pointed finial incorporating a short stiletto blade, on tubular haft of two-part construction interrupted by a moulding inlaid with brass diagonals, disc guard inset with brass pellets, and globular finial inlaid with further diagonals.
