A GROUP OF FIVE RAPIER POMMELS
17th Century
The first chiselled with a pierced cage-like design of branches carrying small masks and a soldier front and rear (pitted); the second chiselled with three bands of foliage; the third cut with trophies-of- arms within a field of monster-head scrolls and all on a fish-roe ground; the fourth cut with swagged masks and figural cartouches (rubbed); and the last cut with four raised prominent cartouches alternately filled with figures and masks.
