A GROUP OF FIVE RAPIER POMMELS
16th Century and later
The first cut with an interlaced design of stylised masks alternating with caryatids; the second strongly gadrooned over its upper half and cut with a fine trellis pattern; the third cut with an openwork chainlink pattern (heavily pitted); the fourth decorated with linked cartouches of female masks alternating with grotesque masks; and the last faceted and cut with three bands of rectangular cartouches, the central band filled with motifs and figures from mythology.
