A CONTINENTAL CASED PAIR OF PERCUSSION RIFLED TARGET PISTOLS SIGNED H.JAQUET À GENÈVE

With browned twist octagonal barrels rifled with ten grooves and signed in gold, engraved case-hardened breeches numbered 1 & 2 in gold, the tangs engraved and numbered en suite and fitted with adjustable sights, the locks and mounts engraved with a matching pattern of leafy scrolling tendrils, figured walnut half-stocks, the butts and fore-ends carved with panels of scrolling foliage in low relief on a recessed stippled ground, set triggers, and some original finish (the finish on the barrels rubbed), Liège proof: in original brass-bound contour-fitted case lined in plum velvet (faded), veneered in exotic hardwood, the lid with ebony borders, brass stringing and a large openwork arabesque cartouche of inlaid brass and white metal, and retaining almost all of its original accessories including bullet mould and sight key (the powder-flask a modern replacement).
