A FRENCH CASED PAIR OF PERCUSSION RIFLED TARGET PISTOLS BY DEVISME À PARIS
circa 1830-35
With signed twist octagonal sighted barrels with microgroove-rifled bore, breeches numbered 1 & 2, engraved breech tangs, engraved locks, walnut half-stocks (cracks and small chips), the fore-ends with lion's head terminals carved in relief, the butts cut with scale pattern chequering and fitted with ebony oval pommels, engraved steel mounts, vacant escutcheons, and set triggers: in original contour-fitted case lined in dark green velvet and veneered in rosewood, the lid signed by the maker 'Devisme Arquebusier Bréveté, 26 Boulevart des Italiens' in gilt letters, and retaining all of its original accessories.
