A Chinese inlaid hardwood horseshoe-back chair, first half 19th century
the characteristic arched back and supports centred on a broad backsplat, the indented rectangular frame comprising a balustrade above the foliate shaped apron, supported on four legs, with the inlaid bone and boxwood decoration including dragons pursuing the flaming pearl, phoenix, grazing horses, figures before pavilions, bats, deer resting under pine trees, birds, floral sprays and pendant musical stones above a pair of fish -- 32 11/16in. (83cm.) high, 22 7/8in. (58.1cm.) wide, 16 15/16in. (43cm.) deep.
