A pair of Japanese octagonal Imari vases and covers, 19th century
each decorated with panels enclosing peony, chrysanthemum and prunus blossoms growing beside pavilions, reserved on an underglaze blue ground with gilt floral trellis decoration above a band of floral roundels, the neck with floral cartouches, surmounted by the similarly decorated domed cover with a knop finial, with iron-red signature Yamanaka -- 13¾in. (34.9cm.) high. (2)
