A pair of Japanese imari jars and covers, 19th Century
decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gilt with shaped cartouches of flowering prunus and chrysanthemum before distant architecture, with scrolling peony flowerheads to the shoulders, the dome covers with gilt pointed teardrop formed finial -- 16in. (40.6cm.) high. (2)
