Overall featherbanded and inlaid with fan motifs, the canted eared rectangular hinged top with dentilled rim opening to one hinged shelf above a pewter basin flanked by hinged flaps, above a two frieze drawers and two doors, flanked by fluted pilasters, on square tapering legs

Lot Essay

Wilhelmina Queen of the Netherlands (1880-1962) married Hendrik Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1876-1934) in 1901. From 16 December 1908 until his death prince Hendrik was president of the Dutch Red Cross. His office was at the Prinsessengracht 27 in The Hague. In 1917 prince Hendrik donated the house and its contents to the Dutch Red Cross. Until 2006 the the lots 276 up to 281 remained at the Prinsessengracht and are now sow sold to benefit the Red Cross Foundation.
