Lot Essay

I Nyoman Cokot (1886-1971) ranks with I Gusti Nyoman Lempad as one of Bali's most eminent artists. His style developed into a school of true followers. Although the themes come from traditional Hinduistic scources, he managed to carve in a highly individualistic style which is in the same time original, primitive and terrifying.
