Lot Essay

Marmaduke is the museum bear, he is based on the museum's logo which was designed, after an old-fashioned classic bear, by artist and designer Michael Buckner. In 1989 The Teddy Bear Museum was honoured with an award from the British Tourist Authority. To celebrate this achievement the museum created their first ever limited edition, Marmaduke was made in an edition of 1,988 to mark the year in which it was opened.
