8o (162 x 92 mm). Folding color mezzotint by Gautier d'Agoty of the urological organs and penis (short tear). Contemporary mottled calf, spine gilt (some light wear, spine slightly chipped at ends).
Third edition, and the second to contain a folding color mezzotint by Gautier d'Agoty of the penis and urinary tract. When Daran first published his Observations in 1745 Gautier was just beginning his publishing program. In his second edition of 1748 Daran was able to include a beautiful plate printed in color. This print was reissued in the 1750 printing in the Edell collection. Throughout Gautier's anatomical publications, sexual aspects of anatomy were emphasized.
