Two parts in one, 4o (265 x 198 mm). Half-title. 15 engraved folding plates (bound out of sequence at end). (Some pale damstaining in upper third of sheets.) 19th-century calf-backed boards (a bit rubbed). Provenance: Bonamy, possibly the anatomist (slip with pencil notation regarding this work tipped in before half-title).
FIRST EDITION. Sandifort was a pupil of Albinus, and he succeeded his teacher to the chair of anatomy and surgery at the University of Leiden. Sandifort concentrated his efforts on the anatomy of disease and has been called the founder of pathological anatomy. Choulant-Frank p. 313.
