2o (434 x 265 mm). List of subscribers. 4 hand-colored stipple-engraved plates by J. Hopwood after drawings by T. Baxter, with four lettered outline plates. (Some spotting.) Modern half calf antique. Provenance: London Hospital Library (ink stamp on title and verso of plates).
FIRST EDITION of the first atlas of colored illustrations of the anatomy of the nose and throat, displaying "an accurate anatomical description of the parts ..." (Stevenson & Guthrie, History of Oto-Laryngology, p. 79). Watt wrote the explanatory text for the plates. The anatomist and surgeon, Sir William Lawrence, contributed "The Description of the Mouth, Nose, Larynx and Pharynx" published on pp. 15-34. Some copies were issued with the plates uncolored.
