AN UNUSUAL POTTERY BALUSTER JAR
NEOLITHIC PERIOD, POSSIBLY ERLITOU/SHANG DYNASTY, 1700-1000 BC
Decorated with thin crimped strips of clay with a band of diagonal stripes on the shoulder between similar borders repeated as three horizontal bands on the lower body, applied with a pair of small notched flange handles below the short flared neck rising to double notched rims, the uppermost with a further applied clay band, covered overall with a thin earth slip
