KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The facets of the tall bodies painted in rich tones of underglaze blue with different flowering trees including prunus, tree peony, camellia and magnolia, with insects flitting around each tree, all within narrow borders of foliate scroll repeated around the foot, and below and on top of the everted rim

Lot Essay

A similarly decorated example of an octagonal vase dating to the late 17th or early 18th century, although with a slightly bulbous lower body and floral scroll around the neck, is illustrated by R. Krahl and J. Ayers in Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, vol. III, London, 1986, p. 919 no. 2119.
