The characters wan shou wu jiang may be translated, 'boundless longevity'. A pair of similar Qianlong-marked bowls in the Ohlmer Collection in the Roemer Museum, Hildesheim, is illustrated by U. Wiesner, Chinesisches Porzellan, Mainz am Rhein, 1981, p. 122, nos. 63 and 64.

See, also, the Qianlong-marked bowl of the same design sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 30 May 2006, lot 1406.
