Lot Essay

See the footnote to the preceding lot.
Based on published examples this shape and size of Yongzheng-marked bowl appears to have been used exclusively with bright enamels, such as the rose-pink enamel seen on the pair of bowls, also in the Trevor Collection, lot 340 in this sale, as well as the pair of pink-enameled bowls illustrated in The Tsui Museum of Art, Hong Kong, 1991, pl. 126. A yellow-enameled bowl from the Jingguantang Collection, Part III, was sold in these rooms, 18 September 1997, lot 160; and a pair with coral-red enamel is illustrated in The Tsui Museum of Art; Chinese Ceramics IV; Qing Dynasty, Hong Kong, 1995, no. 26.
