The firm of Henry Dasson often directly copied known pieces and the patinated bronze figures to this pair of brûle-parfums are of a form used by François Rémond, (see Furniture, Porcelain & Silver from Longleat, Christie's, London, 13-14 June 2002, lot 307), Jean-François Forty and adopted by the St. Petersburg bronziers (see Christie's, New York, 18 October 2002, lot 645). A celebrated pair of candelabra by Rémond with similar caryatids are in The Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
A pair of brûle-parfums of identical form, lacking the pierced rim and with white marble base and bowl, are illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Objets montés du Moyen Age à nos jours, Paris, 2000, p. 160.
