A mottled red sandstone head and a torso of Vishnu
India, Uttar Pradesh, Mathura, 2nd-4th century
The head carved on two sides with bold features, pursed lips and bulbous nose, the hair flaring upwards; the torso holding a conch shell in his left hand and a lotus bud in his right, wearing a dhoti with a scarf around his shoulders
