A MID-VICTORIAN OAK PARTNERS' PEDESTAL DESK
BY GILLOWS, LANCASTER, CIRCA 1861, THE WORKMEN FOSTER AND METCALFE
With a tooled brown leather-lined top, a moulded edge and fitted with a central frieze drawer, each pedestal fitted with four drawers to one side with a locking stile with a covered lock, the reverse fitted with shelves and pigeon holes enclosed by a panelled door, on plinth bases, the centre drawer stamped 'GILLOWS LANCASTER' and written in pencil on the underside 'FOSTER AND METCALFE LANCASTER 1861', all the locks stamped 'J.BRAMAH 184 PICCADILLY'
