For a similar pair of dogs from the Hodroff Collection, illustrated by D. Howard,op.cit., no.331, pp. 274 and 275. cf. also a dog, but painted en grisaille, from the Mottahedeh Collection, D. Howard and J. Ayers, op.cit., no. 623, pp. 76 and 77, where the authors suggest this model is based on a Meissen original by Kaendler.
