Lot Essay
This group of panoramic papiers peints was first published by Zuber in 1830 and was designed by Jean-Julien Deltil based on Johann Moritz Rugendas's series of prints Voyage pittoresque dans le Brésil, published in Paris in 1827 and engraved by Engelmann. The series counts amongst the manufacturer's most complex and extravagant productions comprising thirty sheet pictures without ends divided into six different scenes. The current lot represents panels 1-6. It was produced in nineteen editions through the nineteenth century and is still included in Zuber's current catalogue.
