PRESENTATION COPIES OF EACH WORK, inscribed by Stanley to Pond on the lecture tour of the USA. Kalulu was Stanley's trusted servant, and Stanley wrote that work as an adventure story for children.

Portraits of Glave and Stanley, text illustrations. Original pictorial cloth (joints cracked, later plastic wrapper lightly affixed with tape). Provenance: presentation copy to Bin, dated 1893 -- [Mrs. Joan Pond (pencil ascription to her library)] -- John McClellan, 1980 (pencil inscription). Glave accompanied Stanley on his 1883 expedition to the Congo, where Glave served as station chief at Lukolela.
