Half title, mounted chromolithographed frontispiece, 3 folding maps, 8 mounted photographic plates, 12 lithographed plates. (Light spotting in the first and last few leaves.) Original pictorial cloth gilt, edges gilt, green coated endpapers (light wear, lower hinge starting). Provenance: 'Mrs. Robinson 1966' (bookplate recording the gift of this work to:) -- The Library of the Ladies' Alpine Club -- The Alpine Club.
FIRST EDITION. Meyer, the first European credited with the feat, reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro on his third attempt. On the first he was forced back by the deep snow and ice on Kibo, and on the second attempt he was taken prisoner during the Abushiri Revolt.
