2° (452 x 290mm). 10 wrappered parts. Half-titles, titles and dedication, 524pp. descriptive text, 238 lithographic botanical plates, 224 hand-coloured, some folding, and 1 topographical plate. (Dust-staining at upper edges.) Plates and text uncut, loose as issued in printed green wrappers (some restored at edges). Provenance: 'Monsieur Descaisne de la part de C.L.Blume' (inscribed on Fascicule 1-2 upper wrapper).
RARE, COMPLETE AND FINELY COLOURED FIRST PRINTNG of Blume's magnificent botanical plates, in original condition, which were issued both coloured and uncoloured. Although the fascicules are numbered in ms., not consecutively, 1-35, the work is complete, and also present is the single lithographic view by G.A.Simonau of Gunung Gedeh and Pangerango, as drawn in 1817 by A.A.J. Payen who also drew many of the botanical plates. Bastin notes that 100 fascicules were planned for publication but only 42 were completed, with 506pp. text: 197 plates in fascicules 1-35 and 60 plates in numbers 36-42, issued both coloured and uncoloured.
