'In a kind of half-way house between children's books and works on Indonesian ethnography is the interesting and extremely rare Types Indiens pris au Marché à Sourabaya, containing five coloured lithograph plates, after drawings by E. Dubois, of representative Indonesian types based on puppets in the collection of D. Scheltema, former agent of the Bank of Java. The plates were issued in a square shaped folder with a separate title-page, the five coloured plates apparently being by Coenraad Ritsema (1834-1916), son of Jacob Ritsema (1803-1867), a book publisher and art dealer of Haarlem. Though giving the impression of being privately commissioned, the work was, in fact, publised by J.J. van Brederode, Haarlem, in 1860 at f7.50' (Bastin and Brommer, p.37).
