A pair of Chinese circular boxes and covers, 19th century
the top carved with a scholar and attendant under a tree in mountainous river landscape, the sides with a wan diaper ground; a cinnabar lacquer square box and cover, the top carved with a man giving a bowl to an elderly lady seated on a bench by her dog, with another lady in a pagoda, the sides with floral scrolls flanked by key-fret; and a three-colour cinnabar lacquer square box and cover, carved with two scholars on a riverbank, the sides with leiwen ground -- the largest 7 5/16in. (18.6cm.) wide. (4)
