La Tâche--Vintage 1985
Côte de Nuits, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Lot 324 levels: one 2cm and one 2.5cm; one wrinkled label, one lightly corroded capsule, bottles numbered 302 and 304
Lot 325 Levels: five 1.5cm and one 3cm; bottles numbered: 6026, 6028, 6029, 6030, 6031, 6046.
"A vintage of pleasure but it offers less class and nobility than the best vintages; completely ready to drink" As I noted above in my comments, the '85 is a fine La Tbche but well short of profound with lovely spice but completely mature aromas and nicely complex, full resolved flavors and a long, fine and pure finish. There is no benefit to holding the '85 further and even from magnum format, I would be inclined to begin looking for occasions to enjoy it; to be clear, it's not in decline but it is as good as it's ever going to be. Consistent notes as this is a wine that I have tasted more than 20 times." BH, Nov 17, 2006
