"A magnum given to me by Angelo and opened at a dinner party at home. I knew it was a big wine so I double-decanted it over two hours before serving: fairly deep, intense; lovely crisp fruit, a whiff of blackcurrant; swingeingly tannic. Absolutely magnificent but almost undrinkably unready. Dec 1999 *(****) Like the 1870 Ch Lafite or the 1928 Latour it is a wine that will take half a century to come around. Say 2025-2050.
