The rectangular quarter-veneered top with a crossbanded and feather- banded border above a molded frieze fitted with a drawer, on shell-carved cabriole legs ending in pad feet, bearing a Grosvenor House label of 1958

The table is designed in the George I Roman fashion with truss-scrolled columnar legs embellished with bas-relief Venus shells. It formed part of the fine collection of antique furniture assembled by Colonel Norman Colville (d.1974) at Penheale Manor, Cornwall, and was purchased by him in 1958 at the Grosvenor House Antique Dealers' Fair ( not illustrated in catalogue).
