Naturalistically modelled recumbent to left, its forepaw resting on a globe, its coat streaked in brown and with a red tongue, on shaped rectangular mound base enriched in green

Lot Essay

Elizabeth Adams and David Redstone, Bow Porcelain, London, 1991, pl. 125, illustrates a closely similar pair of lions; a white pair were sold in Christie's, King Street, 2 June 1986, lot 304, and a single right hand lion, 20 October 1986, lot 196. More recently, a pair very similar in colouring to the prsent left hand example from an important private collection was sold at Christie's, King Street: 50 Years of Collecting: Decorative Arts of Georgian England, 14 May 2003, lot 228.
