The rectangular top inlaid with a Greek key border surrounding a panel inlaid with a stack of books on a table with an inkwell, the top sliding back to reveal a pull-out leather-lined writing slide above an open compartment and fitments for writing implements, the frieze inlaid with Vitruvian scroll, on tapering legs headed by cast guttae and paterae, ending in sabots, with red chalk number '235-1781' and French customs stamp, rosette mounts at tops of legs 18th century but associated, other mounts apparently original
