A FRENCH ORMOLU AND SEVRES PORCELAIN-MOUNTED CASKET ON STAND
CONSTRUCTED IN THE 19TH CENTURY POSSIBLY USING SOME 18TH CENTURY ELEMENTS, THE MOUNTS 19TH CENTURY, THE PORCELAIN PLAQUES 18TH CENTURY AND ADAPTED FOR THIS PIECE OF FURNITURE, THE PAINTING TO THE PORCELAIN PROBABLY 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular hinged lid with incurved corners inset with twin oval porcelain plaques with green grounds decorated with polychrome bouquets and within floral surrounds, with a blue velvet-lined interior, above a conforming case inset to the frieze with eight similarly-decorated porcelain plaques, resting on four slightly incurved supports, each mounted with a bow-knot-tied fruiting trail and joined by an incurved rectangular undertier inset with a later oval plaque painted with birds, on foliate-mounted hipped cabriole legs ending in foliate sabots, with inscribed paper label to underside '7451'
