Decorated with strapwork and cartouches in the style and palette of Vienna (Du Paquier) porcelain circa 1725, with shaped square plates, the tureen with moulded decoration, comprising:
Three soup tureens and covers, 15½ in. (39.5 cm.) wide overall

Lot Essay

The present service is the remaining portion of what was an extensive service created in 1937 for the Brucknerstift St Florian, a seminary outside Vienna. Never used, the service was acquired by the consignor's husband after World War II. The other half from the same source was sold anonymously, Christie's New York, 24 October 2004, lot 812.
