Váelav Brozik studied in Prague and later continued his studies at Munich. By 1876 he is listed as a student of Leon Bonnat in Paris. The next year, Brozik began his career by entering his first canvas at the Salon, and his first paintings were very well-received. Widely sought-after in his time for both his genre paintings as well as his portraits, Brozik was also the recipient of the Croix de la Legion d'Honneur in 1884, was made an officer in 1890 and received a noble title from the Emperor of Austria.
