AN ETRUSCAN RED-WARE TAIL-SPOUTED ASKOS
CIRCA LATE 3RD/EARLY 2ND CENTURY B.C.
On high foot, with ribbed strap handle and flaring spout, 6¼ in. (15.9 cm.) long; a Daunian pottery askos, the short vertical spout with wide horizontal rim, a ring handle rising from the back of the body, decorated overall with thick bands of brown and dark red, with striped 'metopes' and a diamond pattern around the spout's neck, a band of zigzag around the upper body and concentric circles above the base which is decorated with a large diamond motif, 550-475 B.C., 5¼ in. (13.4 cm.) high; a South Italian black glazed pottery shallow bowl, the interior with thick band of rouletting surrounding a central stylized mask with four stamped palmettes, late 4th-3rd Century B.C., 6½ in. (16.5 cm.) diam.; and an East Mediterranean orange ware pottery spouted vessel, 2nd/early 1st millennium B.C., 4¼ in. (10.7 cm.) high (4)
