AN EAST ROMAN MARBLE HEAD OF A GODDESS
CIRCA 2ND-4TH CENTURY A.D.
Wearing pendant earrings and elaborate headdress, her hair drawn back in waves with a draped veil covering the rear and a thick foliate wreath above, the ribbon falling behind, surmounted by a tall crown carved with central arcade showing enthroned goddess, flanked by niches with standing figures and an eagle(?), her wide staring eyes with drilled pupils, remains of stucco

Acquired by the present owner's father in the 1980s.
