The Earth-Spider attacking the sick Raiko (Minamoto Yorimitsu), while his retainers Urabe no Suetake and Sakata no Kintoki grapple with a demon, signed Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi, published by Yamamotoya Heikichi, kiwame seal, very good impression, colours and condition, slightly trimmed at lower edge

Lot Essay

This is one of Kuniyoshi's earliest triptychs (c.1820) based on a theme to which he was going to return time and time again until the very end of his life (For a late work see Lot 646)
