Romanée-Conti(1)
"Medium-deep, soft colour, touch of orange; subdued but rich (after three hours in a burgundy glass); dry, massive, concentrated, tightly knit. Impressive for a '91 ****" MB, Vintage Wine

La Tâche(3)
"I have long been an admirer of this wine as it is dazzlingly elegant and very densely fruited with knock out aromas of spice, dried rose petals, clove, anise and black pepper followed by somewhat austere, rich, concentrated and gorgeously persistent flavors. The intensity here is really something to see and it just oozes class and refinement. Multiple bottles and consistent notes." BH

Richebourg(1)
"Explosive red and black fruit that is still quite primary in nature with flavors that are very dense and wonderfully textured all supported by a still pronounced tannic structure. Completely different in its tactile qualities than the Romanée St. Vivant and this remains remarkably youthful. The extract completely buffers the substantial tannins and the exquisite balance should enable this to evolve over many years." BH

Romanée-Saint-Vivant(3)
"Wonderful aromatics of Vosne spice, black fruit and hints of earth and violets followed by rich, velvety flavors of stunning complexity and exceptional length. This has finally started to open and shows even more promise now than it did before as the hardness of the tannins is melting, revealing classic RSV qualities. Drinkable now but this will undoubtedly be better with a few more years of bottle age. Multiple and consistent notes." BH

Grands-Echézeaux(1)
"Effusive, lively and sweet black, spicy fruit leads to full-bodied, sappy, sweet, intense, mouth coating flavors of considerable density and astoundingly length. This remains quite youthful and while I've indicated an initial drinking window of 2008, it wouldn't surprise me if the evolution of the '91 GE required another 5 or 6 years before really arriving at its peak. Tasted multiple times with consistent notes." BH

Echézeaux(3)
"DRC performed exceptionally well in 91 and this Echézeaux is no exception. Reserved yet elegant nose that is a combination of primary fruit and spicy secondary aromatics followed by deep, rich, still tannic flavors that show uncommon depth and lots of buffering sève on the long, complex finish. While this can be enjoyed now, it will be better in 5 years and should drink beautifully for another 10 after that. A very classy wine." BH
