Romanée-Conti(1)
"First tasted at the Domaine, October 1990: very deep, richly coloured opulent, all-pervasive aroma, fairly sweet and full-bodied, high extract masking tannins, rounded. Next, at the London importer's tasting in London (at that time time, Percy Fox), January 1991: similar note, and again two months later: a powerhouse with great future. Last tasted March 1991. Then (*****) Not tasted since." MB, Vintage Wine.

La Tâche(3)
"Somewhat subdued and reserved on the nose with the classic nose of Asian spices, hoisin, soy and a trace of oak followed by sweet, long, structured and beautifully complex flavors. There is fine length here and the power is impressive. This is still a bit tight but this is finally beginning to unwind. I would give this another 5 to 7 years in the cellar and drink over the next 10 to 15 years. Consistent notes as I have tasted this many times." BH

Richebourg(2)
"Luxuriantly powerful fruit of spice, jam and violets with obvious pinot extract lead to amazingly powerful yet velvety flavors. There are ample tannins but the extract more than buffers them. Huge, rich and long from beginning to end, this is still very much of a baby. In fact, there is so much extract and this is so youthful that this should continue to evolve for some years to come." BH

Romanée-Saint-Vivant(3)
"Rich, elegant and powerful fruit that displays the classic spice box character of a fine RSV. I particularly like the purity of expression (yet no lack of power) which combined with the outstanding length make this a terrific effort that should continue to improve and then hold at this level for a number of years. Consistent notes." BH

Grands-Echézeaux(1)
"No bricking at all with a supremely elegant nose of dried roses, spice and Oriental tea followed by dense, complex and powerful flavors. The
remaining tannins are ripe and balanced and remain well integrated on
the phenomenally long finish. This is arguably the best DRC Grands
Echézeaux of the decade" BH

Echézeaux(2)
"Wonderfully complex nose with aromas of spice, tea and crushed dried roses followed by rich, detailed and relatively big flavors. Echézeaux often can be one of those wines that displays grand cru complexity and premier cru weight and a trace of finishing rusticity but this 88 is a big wine and every bit a true grand cru. Very impressive." BH
